Susan and all the teachers at Parachute have been indispensable in helping our five year old son develop his social skills, independence and confidence. Once very fearful of separation and other kids, he now loves going to school, and always returns with stories of the fun they had at the playground, walking around the neighborhood, doing theater or guitar, and now even capoeira! Susan is incredibly generous with her time, and has worked with us closely to extend his progress into our home life as well. We also love how all of the teachers bring their own creativity and expertise to the mix, making for a dynamic, eclectic experience, but are also completely unified in their approach to behaviors and running the classroom. At a time when no school felt like the right fit, PPL has been invaluable to us, and we’d recommend it to anyone!
Our son started at Parachute this school year having just moved here from another country. We chose Parachute after touring several public and private schools. Our child, who barely spoke a word of English when he started, brings home new songs, words and phrases every day and has gained so much confidence and joy communicating in English. It is a unique, small group with gentle and respectful yet consistent opportunities for learning, friendship and growth. He loves his teachers and classmates and it is very touching to watch how eager he is to get here in the mornings and interact with everyone. Every month the school continues to impress in its effort to improve and grow - plays, trips, activities and projects happen, new toys, games and books are added. For instance, now apart from English, our boy’s singing Portuguese songs and teaching us Portuguese words from his capoeira lessons. I am so grateful we found this school and would wholeheartedly recommend it as a very special and nurturing place.
PPL is the best! Their peaceful, nurturing space is a supportive environment where kids can feel at ease. My son always seems confident and purposeful when he enters he classroom because he knows what to expect and what is expected of him: He expects to play, sing, run, and dance with his friends and he’s expected to behave in a kind, pro-social way. He alway brings home great stories and wonderful habits from PPL!
My son Harlan has been attending PPL for the past year. He loves this sweet space and is always in such a happy mood whenever I pick him up after his days here. Susan’s approach is structured, but seems to offer the kids a lot of room to develop independent skills. It really feels like the whole staff understands that each child is an individual, worthy of respect and intellectual space. I have loved watching Harlan grow under their care.
